1.1 Context
The Visual Identity presented here was developed for a project in the field of Art, Science and Technology, entitled Tela Transeunte (Passerby Screen). The seed to this project is an artistic work with the same name, Tela Transeunte. Under the guidance of Luiz A. Z. Salgado and Denise A. Bandeira, the visual artist Bianca C. Orsso created the first version of this artistic work between 2019/2020 — in the middle of the undergratuation final fork for a degree in Visual Arts at the State University of Paraná (UNESPAR), Faculty of Arts of Paraná (FAP), Campus II, Curitiba (ORSSO, 2020). At the end of 2021, the work was registered by Denise Bandeira as a project in the 088/2021 call for proposals from the Curitiba Cultural Foundation. This call for proposals includes the occupation of the digital art room space of the Municipal Museum of Art (MuMA), of city of Curitiba (PR-Br). In addition to occupying the digital art room, in the project, Denise proposed holding an event that continues with the same title as the work, Tela Transeunte — as explained at the beginning of this text.
1.2 CONCEPT
The smallest compositional unit of the graphic material presented here consists in a square with rounded edges. This compositional element is a transfiguration of an element present in the quadratic matrix that makes up the work Tela Transeunte. At the same time, the square used here serves as a way of representing the smallest unit of information in the digital medium — a bit. In this case, when we use one of these squares next to another, we are indicating a data packet, or the transition of simpler information, such as a binary code, to a complex and organized set of information. By the size of the squares, we seek to describe a multiplication of the amount of information by the area of each square. In this context, in the union of different information packets, a set of squares aligned with a square of a size that contains the dimensions of its previous squares, we are indicating an infinite representation of the passage of information, of the packaging and transmission of data. It would be a code that carries another code, or the meaning of something leading to another meaning. The set of signs comprising a language, sets of objects, systems, a complex object. In dialogue with the formal representation we use, as well as its representative purpose, it is pertinent to mention that here I sought an approximation of visual aesthetics of original movements of “cyber-culture”, such as saturated tones and typography with a geometric format, sans serif and, even though it is vectorial, it simulates, smoothly in its curves, an idea of a pixelated image.
